Becoming a Member

New Members Welcome! Spread the Word!

CAAR membership runs over a period of two years. As a member of CAAR, you become an active part of our vibrant international community of scholars from over 25 countries and from a wide range of disciplines. CAAR members are of course connected to the CAAR listserv with over seven hundred scholars, activists, and friends. The listserv connects you to regular information, debate and exchange in the Black Studies community. If you wish to subscribe to our listserv, please send a blank email to:

Beyond the listserv exchange, active CAAR Membership entitles you to a say in CAAR affairs (board and presidential elections, themes of conferences, suggestions for locations, decisions about other CAAR activities, suggestions for publications in FORECAAST); membership benefits include a regular copy of our conference volume.

Membership dues will be paid either at registration for the respective biennial conference, or by transfer to our treasurer. Rates are always for 2-year membership and are as follows:

Regular: 120 Euro

Student/Unwaged: 50 Euro
