Transportation – Accomodations

How to get to Tours University «Tanneurs» campus

From Charles de Gaulle airport (Roissy)

Connection to the SNCF network offers a choice, depending on the way flight and train time tables match.

  • Direct TGV trains run from the airport station to Tours (please check on schedules with the SNCF) :
    7
    :45 ; 8:56 ; 13:45 ; 18:25 ; 19:14 ; 21:28.
The ride to Tours takes about 1.5 hours.

  • When direct trains are not convenient, you need to find your way to the Montparnasse station : 3 options
    1.  Air France Coach Shuttle
    2.  Taxi (over 40 euros)
    3.  RER trains B2 or B4 from Terminal 1 or 2. Get off at Denfert-Rochereau and connect to métro line n° 6 towards Etoile.
    Get off at Montparnasse

From Orly airport

  • Air France coach shuttle to the Montparnasse train station.

  • A taxi (about 20 euros) to the station.

  • Orlyval shuttle to Antony. Connect to RER B3 or B5, get off at Denfert-Rochereau. Connect to métro line n° 6, as above.

From any other Paris train station

  • Find your way (métro, bus or taxi) to Montparnasse.

General Information
All trains (on average one train hourly) to Tours take one hour :
TGV rides call for a reservation which is issued with your ticket. The cost of a return ticket averages 80 euros.

Very important
M
any trains (especially TGVs) do not call at the Tours station itself. You are advised to inquire from the conductor, as you may have to get off at Saint-Pierre des Corps to catch a rail shuttle to Tours.

The Tours station is about 15 minutes’ walk from the Tanneurs campus. All the hotels  in list A hereafter are within walking distance from both the station and the campus.

Restaurants

There are many reasonably priced restaurants in the old town section.

Hotels

There are two ways for you to pinpoint exact hotel locations online.

1 Go to the Tourist Office sign at http://wwww.ligeris.com to choose from the list (enter “in Tours” from the “localisation” button, then choose the “category” you want). Jot down the hotel’s address (you only need the street’s name). Go to the town’s site: http://www.tours.fr . Enter the hotel’s street name, then click on “grand plan” for a larger map area.

2 Many hotels provide their own sites. Go to either http://www.fr.yahoo.com or http://www.google.fr or http:///www.wanadoo.fr and enter “Hotel Name, Tours, France”. There usually is a map of the surroundings.
