The African American Fiction Library

The African American Fiction Library is a component of the African American Research Library, an electronic-text project sponsored by the Collegium for African American Research, Harvard University, and King Alfred’s College, Winchester.

The Clotel Project

Clotel by William Wells Brown is the first published African American novel.  The four existing textual versions are now presented together for the first time in the innovative electronic scholarly edition produced by a four-year collaboration between King Alfred’s College, Winchester, the University of Virginia and Adam Matthew Publications.  An image of each page is linked with the text of each page, and the search program reaches texts, commentary, annotations, and support material.  Available at: http://www.adam-matthew-publications.co.uk/collect/p538.htm
